Gwendolyn Cross Working For You!

Vote for Gwendolyn Cross 4th District City Council on November 2, 2010

Gwendolyn Cross is leading the fight to bring jobs back to our community and improve public safety

gwen.cross-1Every morning many of our neighbors face another day behind the wheel in frustration and despair in gridlock traffic dreaming of finding a stable and well paying job that is closer to home so they can be involved not only in their community, but most importantly, their kid's lives.

Over the last four years, you have seen this economy take its toll on the fourth district, your friends, kids, and your neighbors.  You probably know of at least one family that moved from your neighborhood leaving behind broken and scattered dreams as a result of this economy.  A few of our neighborhoods have become graveyards over what could have been.

You have seen the unemployment rate soar while the high paying secure jobs evaporate.  We can do better; we can turn this tide and stop the bleeding.  Our City Hall can create an environment in which the private sector will be encourage to create jobs for our community that will keep them off the freeway and closer to home.

As Council Member of the fourth district, I will:

  • Make jobs and public safety a top priority.
  • Create a comprehensive Fast Track program for small, medium, and large developments that brings with it high quality sustainable jobs.
  • Streamline the permit process.
  • Ensure our local businesses and our residents are included in public works or other city projects funded with your tax dollars through implementation of Project Labor Agreements and the adoption of a First Source Hiring Ordinance.  It is critical to our residents that public work or city projects funded with tax dollars should be completed in as timely a manner as possible.  That those public works or city financed projects provide employment opportunities for residents and increase business opportunities for local business.gc
  • Provide dignity and respect to business and development committee that choose to do business with our city.
  • Keep our community safe with increased and modernized law enforcement while working with community leaders.
